I was born in Erie, Pennsylvania and was raised in Rimersburg, Pennsylvania. I graduated from Union High School in 1992. I received my bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education (K – 12) from West Liberty University in December of 1996. I then enrolled at the California University of Pennsylvania where I earned a graduate certification in Special Education (K – 12). In the summer of 1998 I began my teaching career here at Union School District as a Health and Physical Educator. In the spring of 2009 I enrolled at the University of Scranton to pursue a Master’s Degree in Administration. In December of 2011 I completed the program and state certification to become a certified principal in Pennsylvania. On July 19, 2012 the School Board appointed me to the position of Elementary Principal.
The opportunity to learn life lessons, to be educated and enriched in the Union School District community is something that I reflect on often. The opportunity to have a career that influences families and students in this community is one that I will never under estimate. The Union School District community has given me the tools to be a genuine, honest, hardworking citizen. Therefore, my goal as an administrator is to utilize all the resources the community has to provide and build an environment that students will grow academically, socially and emotionally. The core of why I pursued a degree in administration was so I could have more of a positive impact on the students and the community.
I reside in Sligo, PA with my wife Trista, my son Hobie and daughter Maggie. Trista and I are excited that we get the opportunity to raise our children in this area and even prouder that our children attend Union School District. The Union community and our families provided my wife and I with the tools necessary to choose any career path, and we will forever be grateful for that growth and training. We look forward in sharing that joy with our children someday. With our free time my family enjoys camping, riding our UTV, participating in sports, eating out and traveling.
I look forward to encouraging the students of Union to stretch their imaginations, accept challenges and go for their dreams. Union has always consisted of people that are on the move and for us to continue this trend we must understand that one cannot do it alone, but rather we must come together with a common vision and goal, therefore our educational theme for the 2014 – 2015 school year is:
It is good to be Union.
