The mission of the Union School District, in harmony with our community, is to educate and empower students to become continuous learners in an environment which ensures that each student gains knowledge and skills, self-motivation and related positive attitudes necessary to compete equitably with peers locally and globally towards meaningful and productive lives.
Dear Parents/Guardians of students in Grades K, 3, and 7:

Pennsylvania Public School Code requires that students in grades K, 3, and 7 receive a State mandated Dental Exam.

Letters and Dental Examination Forms were mailed home to parents/guardians of any student who has not turned in a completed exam from their private dentist. If your child has not received a private dental exam within the past 6 months, our school Dentist will be in the District on Friday December 1st, to complete exams for students who have not met this State requirement. This is only for students in grades K, 3, and 7. The exam is a brief evaluation of your child’s dental health, and there is no cost to parents. You are welcome to be present during your child’s dental examination, please contact the Nurse to set up an appointment.

Please sign the required Authorization that was mailed home. If your child had a private dental exam, please have the form faxed to Union High School, 814-473-8201.

Thank you.

Dear Families,

Union School District participates in a program called Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). This program is a non-pricing meal service option for schools and school districts in low-income areas. CEP allows the nation’s highest poverty schools and districts to serve a healthy breakfast and lunch at zero cost to all enrolled students for the 2023-2024 school year, without collecting household applications.

Our students do have the opportunity to purchase “extras” at meal times. For that reason, money can still be added to their accounts via the My School Bucks website.

Also, due to the district’s participation in CEP, your family may be eligible to receive discounts on home internet service. Information on these can be found in the attachment. You will need documentation that your child attends Union School District to be used in the application process.

We will continue to provide cost-saving updates throughout the year, as they become available.

Thank You,

Mrs. Jessica McCleary
Food Service Director

Last evening (10/19/23) the school board approved a requested calendar change. On March 15th we will operate on an early dismissal schedule and students will continue their school day in the afternoon as a remote learning afternoon. Teachers will be expected to provide independent learning activities for the afternoon. Completion of these activities/assignments will be utilized to account for attendance.
